Hi everyone! My name is Tuyet. I’m 19 years old. I come from Hanoi. I am studying at Hanoi College of Technology and trading. I’m a student of English class. I love freedom, exploration and travel.
Today, I want to share with you 1 topic. It’s the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the major holidays in Vietnam. The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the Fifteenth day of the eighth every year. It has become the children’s New Year’s Day-Children’s Day. Because they are often given toys by adults on this day such us: mask, army pull lights, star shaped lantern, toy figurine, lantern,… and eat mooncake-most important and special food of this day. On this Mid-Autumn Festival day, people will prepare a tray to burn ancestors incense. When the moon is high, children will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with traditional 5-pointed start shaped lantern. While watching the moon breack the deck. In some place, lion dance and dragon dance are also organized for children to enjoy.
The moon-looking custom is also related to the legend of Moon Man was away, the banyan tree was uprooted to the sky. Moon Man clung to the tree’s roots but could not help it and was sent off the moon with his own tree. Looking up at the moon, one can see a clear black mark of can old tree with people sitting under the base. Children believe it is a picture of Moon Man sitting at the base of a banyan tree.
Finally, the Mid-Autumn Festival is the beauty of Vietnamese traditional culture, family day unity of members. My topic ends here. What do you think? Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam is very interesting, isn’t it?
